The Walt Disney World Trip That Never Was - Day Ten!

Updated: Apr 5, 2021

Today is my second day at Hollywood Studios! Or it should have been. This would be my second, and last, trip to Hollywood Studios during this holiday. I always hate when you start to have to say goodbye to each park one by one!

The idea for today was to spend a lot of time exploring Galaxy’s Edge and enjoying all the rest of the rides and shows one last time!

I’d planned to arrive at Hollywood Studios for park opening to try and get some boarding passes for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. I was so excited to ride this! It looks incredible and so immersive. Much more than just a ride. The level of detail is out of this world! This will be my number one attraction to visit next time I am at Disney World!

Final Rides On My Favourite Attractions

After (hopefully!) getting some boarding passes my next stop would be my two favourite attractions at Hollywood Studios: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster featuring Aerosmith and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror! I have to get at least a few rides on both of these as I don’t know how long it will be until I can ride them again!

Going straight to these rides first thing usually means they are walk ons as most people head to Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land first. So if you love these rides as much as me be sure to head there at park opening and get to ride them many times whilst there is no wait! I also love the Tower of Terror merchandise so definitely will be having a good look around the shop!

TOP TIP!

If you don’t want to ride the Tower of Terror but love the merchandise you can still visit the shop, it is just tucked away a bit! Walk up to the entrance to the Tower of Terror queue and instead of turning left to join the queue carry on walking straight up the path. You will eventually come to the shop on your left hand side. And if you wanted to experience all the spooky awesomeness of the queue but not ride the ride you can do this! Enjoy everything the queue has to throw at you and once you get to the section where they load the lifts just tell the Cast Member you don’t want to ride and they will show you the exit to the gift shop.

I love the Old Hollywood theming of this part of the park. When in Sunset Boulevard you have lots of great shops to go in and you may even see the Citizens of Hollywood perform! I always make sure to watch the Beauty and the Beast show too. This was my absolute favourite Disney movies when I was growing up and the stage show is so moving!

Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo for Lunch

For lunch we would be venturing into Galaxy’s Edge. I am so excited to one day finally get to walk in and be wowed by the stunning setting of Batuu!

I picked Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo to dine in because the menu sounds really interesting and I love the naming of the foods! I wanted to try the Felucian Garden Spread because firstly I love the name and secondly it sounds so tasty and is a lighter option, which is perfect in the Florida sun. It is also such a different offering to what you would typically find so I love that you have the variety too!

Galaxy’s Edge

I then planned to explore all that Batuu has to offer! It is great that there are characters walking around patrolling and interacting with you. This is the most immersive land Disney have ever done and I think it will be such a memorable experience. I totally need to find a Porg!

TOP TIP!

Make sure to visit the Milk Stand to try some unique favoured milks. Pick either the Blue Milk or Green Milk, or a combination of both! And the great thing is both these drinks are vegan and gluten-free so everyone can get to try these out of this galaxy drinks!

Hopefully during this time we would also be able to ride Rise of the Resistance. I cannot tell you how excited I am by this ride! I think it is really incredible that the queue is also such a bit part of the experience, so it feels like one really big adventure instead of a long queue and then a few minutes of ride at the end. Plus the stormtroopers all lined up looks amazing!

I would love to experience the queue for Smuggler’s Run as it looks next level awesome! But I am not a bit fan of simulators and do suffer from motion sickness so I worry the ride might not be the best for me. But from watching videos it looks so fun! Have you ridden this? What did you think?

Oga’s Cantina

Another experience I wanted to try was the amazing drinks at Oga’s Cantina. I know I keep mentioning how amazing the theming it at Galaxy’s Edge but I can’t get over it!

The drinks menu here is really large and filled with lots of unique cocktails and mocktails. I’ve seen photos and the drinks are so spectacular in appearance!

TOP TIP!

Visiting Oga’s Cantina is a lovely way to take a break, rest your feet and relax inside with some cool air! I’d planned to visit Oga’s Cantina around 3pm so you are out of the sun for a bit during the hottest part of the day.

Having explored everything Galaxy's Edge has to offer next we would be moving onto Andy's Backyard and into another brilliantly themed land: Toy Story Land!

Toy Story Land

I LOVE Toy Story Land! The bright colours, the rides, the fact everything is oversized. It is just so much fun! There are a million awesome photo opportunities here!

Slinky Dog Dash is a really great family coaster. I love launch rollercoasters and the fact this has two is so exciting for me! And just look at how incredible it looks!

TOP TIP!

Toy Story Mania has an indoor, air conditioned queue. This is the only ride in Toy Story Land that has this. So it is perfect to hop into this queue to have a break out of the heat or if it starts to rain.

If you fancy some friendly competition then Toy Story Mania is the perfect ride! I love that you get to take part in a variety of different carnival games and try to beat everyone in your cart with the highest score!

Alien Swirling Saucers has to be my favourite ride in this land. What looks like maybe a basic ride is so much more than you expect! The moments when you swing around the corners are so fun, I just cannot stop smiling and laughing on this ride! If you are having an afternoon slump hop on this ride and it will be guaranteed to bring your energy levels up and put a smile on your face!

Mama Melrose's For Dinner

For dinner we would be indulging in some Italian food at Mama Melrose’s Italiano Ristorante. This was a restaurant I was keen to try because the entrée I wanted is something I have never had before and unlike any other dish at Disney World.

I was going to order the polenta cake, mushroom and herb cauliflower. It’s so creative and sounds delicious! I love all the ingredients and it is so nice to have polenta in a dish, as it is rare to find this. Mama Melrose also offers some delicious sounding arancini which is a favourite Italian dish of mine!

After a delicious dinner we would watch Fantasmic - often voted the best out of all the nighttime spectaculars Disney has! Sounds like the perfect way to top off a great day!

The past few years has seen so much development and plenty of new attractions at Hollywood Studios. Since my last Disney World trip there is now so much more to see and experience! So I cannot wait to go back and have an amazing time in the new lands, on the new rides and eating the new amazing foods!

And with that I say goodbye and see you next time to Hollywood Studios!

In tomorrows blog I will be relaxing with some Disney miniature golf before spooky season is upon us at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party in the evening! Villains galore! My favourite!
