Why Disney World is Made For Adults, Not Children!

When people think about taking a trip to Disney World it is a common misconception that Disney is aimed primarily at kids and families. But this is WRONG!

There is so much for adults to experience, including adult-only activities, plus adults get to feel the full benefits of everything on offer and enjoy true escapism!

Here are the reasons why Disney World is made for adults and not for children!

Adults Can Ride All The Rides!

Who are the only people are Disney World who can enjoy everything on offer? Adults!

The height requirements for rides typically don't apply to adults visiting Disney World, which means every single ride is available to enjoy!

Whether you are a thrill-seeker, a water ride enthusiast or prefer a gentle but highly themed attraction there is something for you at Disney World!

Resorts Tailored To Adults

Disney World has 31 resorts, suitable for all budgets and types of visitors. Each resort has its own incredible theming and atmosphere, including many with a more adult vibe.

Value resorts do tend to be more family-friendly, with bold theming and the most Disney decor throughout. But these resorts can be great for groups of friends visiting Disney for their fun feel and budget-friendly price!

Moderate resorts have more facilities than value resorts and are a great mix of everything you need but with laid-back vibes. The most adult-friendly moderate resorts are Port Orleans French Quarter, Port Orleans Riverside and Coronado Springs. These resorts are great for couples and adult-only visitors for their relaxing atmosphere and grown-up feel.

In general Deluxe Disney Resorts have a more adult atmosphere and they also have the most amount of facilities, many of which are perfect for adults to enjoy, such as bars, spas, sports facilities and boat rentals. All of the Deluxe Resorts are great for adults, you just have to select which theme you would most enjoy!

Some of the types of resorts you can choose from including Animal Kingdom Lodge which has a stunning savannah where you can see wild animals roam, the Grand Floridian Resort which has an olde-worlde charm to it and it just one monorail stop for Magic Kingdom and Beach Club Resort which has a New England theme and is right in the heart of Disney's BoardWalk, full of restaurants and entertainment and close to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios!

Fine Dining Restaurants

Disney World has over 200 restaurants on its property so you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to delicious food!

Many people think of fast food when visiting theme parks but Disney World has an amazing range of table service restaurants, including many fine dining establishments, serving a wide range of cuisines in incredible settings. The gourmet food, elegant decor and classy atmosphere make these restaurants perfect for adults!

Victoria & Albert's at the Grand Floridian Resort has been voted one of the best restaurants in the entire United States! This restaurant offers exceptional service, foods made from the best quality ingredients and an experience to never forget! A 10 course tasting menu, which updates seasonally, can be paired with wine courses. If you have any dietary requirements the courses will be tailored to you specifically!

Some other amazing fine dining restaurants at Disney World include:

  • California Grill

  • Topolino's Terrace

  • Yachtsman Steakhouse

  • Narcoossee's

  • Citricos

Bars

In the US only people aged 21 and over are allowed to enter bars meaning they are made for adults only!

Disney World has lots of great bars to visit, including many with awesome theming! Visit Trader Sam's Grog Grotto at the Polynesian Village Resort, the Enchanted Rose at the Grand Floridian Resort and Scat Cat's at Port Orleans French Quarter (and be sure to see Yeeha Bob in action!) to enjoy amazing drinks as well as incredible ambiance and theming!

Oga's Cantina in Hollywood Studios is another great bar but inside the parks and sells alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages which are spectacular to look at and enjoy! Oga's is slightly different as it does allow all ages in but many of the drinks are tailored towards adults so this is the perfect spot inside the Disney Parks to relax and unwind and enjoy the out-of-this-world Star Wars theming!

Drink Around The World

One famous activity at EPCOT is drinking around the world! This is not an official activity but quickly became the thing of legends! Drinking Around The World is where you get a different beverage (adult or not!) from each of the 11 World Showcase Pavilions in EPCOT.

Other ways to have a fun experience 'around the world' include drinking non-alcoholic specialty drinks from each country or trying a different snack from each countries pavilions!

Another adult activity is to take part in a monorail crawl. Here they visit each of the Disney Resorts on the monorail loop, Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, to visit a bar and have a beverage or two in each. Appetizers are also a good choice!

Spas

After enjoying everything the parks have to offer you can sometimes feel tired and a bit worn out. So what better way to recuperate than to visit a spa!

Senses Spa at the Grand Floridian Resort and Saratoga Springs Resort are the perfect places to relax and unwind whilst at Disney World. A trip to the spa is a fantastic rest day activity!

Keys To The Kingdom Tour

Disney World offers a range of tours so you can experience the parks in a totally new way! One of the most popular is the Keys To The Kingdom tour in Magic Kingdom.

This tour takes you backstage and even under the park via the famous utilidors!

Because you learn so many secrets and look behind the veil at Disney World this tour is only available for people aged 16 and up making it a perfect adult activity! This is a must-do for all Disney Parks fans!

Parks Open Late At Night

In peak times of the year the Disney World Parks are open late into the evening and even later when special events are on! Staying till park close can be a struggle for people with little ones but fantastic for adults to experience the parks in a completely different way at night!

Special events are also fun, themed and allow you to be in the park with far fewer people!

Adults Have Money To Spend

With so many amazing experiences, delicious dining and awesome merchandise at Disney World it can be hard to resist splurging. But the great news for adults is you can spend any way you want to!

Whether it be one treasured souvenir or a suitcase full, spending money on a special occasion meal at a fine dining restaurant or taking a once in a lifetime tour behind the scenes at Disney adults have the ability to tailor their trip exactly to what their heart desires!

Evening Entertainment

Once the parks close there is still lots of enjoy at Disney World!

Disney Springs is an entertainment centre and has plenty of bars, restaurants, live entertainment, a cinema, bowling and a brand new Cirque de Soleil show to keep you entertained!

Take a visit to Port Orleans Riverside and head to River Roost bar to see Disney legend Yeeha Bob perform!

You can also visit popular venues like Jellyrolls at Disney's BoardWalk to see the famous dueling pianos!

Disney do a great job of ensuring everybody, no matter what type of trip they are taking, is included and has a magical time. But I truly believe adult-only trip can be the best!

Kids can be jetlagged, hot, don't want to queue, scared of rides, queasy from fast food and sweets and who can blame them? Visiting Disney World can be overwhelming and overload your senses.

But adults get all the of the benefits to a trip to Disney World as well as a sense of total escapism, being able to experience everything on offer and to do unique experiences that really enhance your stay!

Everyone should take at least one adults-only trip to really get to experience the Disney Parks in a unique way and to experience everything that is on offer just for grown-ups!

I think that lightning lanes should be left for families with children under a specific age so they aren't kept.waiting in the queues.
