The Walt Disney World Trip That Never Was - Day Six!

Updated: Apr 5, 2021

It is Typhoon Lagoon day! Or it should have been. Today I had planned to cool off from the Florida sun and enjoy one of Disney’s water parks, Typhoon Lagoon. I’ve only ever been once, many years ago when I was a child, so I was very excited to head back to a water park! Water parks aren’t common in the UK so the novelty of being able to enjoy all the slides and the lazy river sounded like a great way to relax after a hectic few days in the parks!

I chose Typhoon Lagoon as I like the variety of relaxing and thrilling attractions. Blizzard Beach offers more thrills so if you are looking for some excitement then Blizzard Beach is definitely the water park to visit!

TOP TIP!

You can hire lockers to make sure all your personal items are safe whilst you enjoy everything Typhoon Lagoon has to offer!

The lazy river looks so nice and the perfect way to cool off! I also love that there are plenty of locations to relax on sun loungers. The different areas mean that you can choose to be in a quiet spot or one that is closer to the attractions you want to visit, or have sun loungers in the shade to cool off or in the sun if you wish to sunbathe (just slap on the sunscreen as the Florida sun is intense!)

Leaning Palms

Typhoon Lagoon offers a selection of quick service restaurants and snack locations. Leaning Palms was the perfect choice for us as it had a wide menu with a variety of choices for both of our dietary needs. (It is always so exciting when you can find multiple vegan options!). I have also heard great reviews about the food here so I was very excited to try it!

TOP TIP!

Magic Bands are waterproof so you can safely wear them whilst at Disney’s water parks. The big bonus to this is that it means you can purchase food and drinks using your Magic Band instead of having to go back to your locker to get your cards or cash!

Both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach are closed at the moment. Hopefully they will be back soon enough for everyone to cool off and enjoy some fun in the sun!

Boma

After a lovely day of splashing about I planned to have dinner at our resort, Animal Kingdom Lodge. We have previously been to Boma for breakfast and it was amazing! Boma is a buffet restaurant that serves African and American foods. The flavours are incredible and there are so many new and exciting foods to try!

TOP TIP!

Buffets are a great option if anyone in your party who prefers to only eat particular foods or has any dietary needs as everyone can choose what they would like to eat and get as much of those items as they desire!

I was really excited to try dinner as I have only ever heard great things and I love that you get to try African cuisine! The dinner buffet has a huge range of stations serving different options such as soups, salads, a wide choice of different entrees and desserts. Make sure you try the famous zebra domes! This will be top of my list when I next go to Disney World!

Animal Kingdom for Pandora at Night

After dinner I planned to go back into Animal Kingdom to explore Pandora at night! I have only ever visited Pandora in the day but at night time it totally transforms and is even more beautiful! I cannot wait till I can finally see it in all its glory!

TOP TIP!

Flight of Passage is the most popular attraction in Animal Kingdom, and therefore has the longest queues. Try to queue first thing in the morning or right before the park closes to have the shortest wait times.

Ending the day relaxing in the parks and just taking time to soak up the atmosphere is always so lovely!

In tomorrows blog I will be talking about tours to find out insider knowledge about Walt Disney World, why a park closing early may mean you get to do more and dining at the Grand Floridian Resort!
